The primary objectives of the drilling program is to better define the open pit, heap leach gold potential of the porphyry gold oxide cap at California, evaluate the potential for deeper copper-gold porphyry sulfide mineralization underlying the oxide cap, test for northern extensions of the California mineralization at California North and northwestern extensions of the Jasper mineralization.

Vice President of Exploration Rob Macdonald states: “These latest drill results have now confirmed the continuity of new mineralization over an approximate 400 metre strike-length extending laterally from the Mina La Bocona to the Skarn Front deposits.”
“These initial results are encouraging and suggest the gold recovery of oxide material at Pilar has the potential to be relatively high.”, commented CEO, Brodie Sutherland. “Work is underway to validate these results at a certified lab. “Drillhole D-96-03-22 returned the highest-grade intercept from the more than 200,000 metres drilled to date on the La Colorada Skarn project,” said Christopher Emerson, Pan American’s Vice President Business Development and Geology. “Further infill drilling will provide tighter spacing to help define this high-grade zone, while step out drilling targets extension of the footprint to the west where the mineralization is still open.”
