“At San Jose, upgrading through infill drilling proved more challenging, as mining is transitioning from the central Stockwork zone to the Trinidad North area where mineralization tends to be narrower and more variable in nature. As the mineralization style changes, the operation is implementing various initiatives, such as pillar recovery and narrow vein mining methods, to optimize mineral extraction.”
The Company is pleased to announce that it is now fully permitted to continue exploration work, including a drill program, on its 100% owned San Diego silver-zinc project in Durango, Mexico.
Dr. Steven Weiss, chief technical adviser for the Rebeico Project, commented “We’re very optimistic about this maiden drill program at the New Year Zone, especially considering the robust gold values obtained over a substantial area at surface”.
The highlight of progress to date is the development of the El Cuervo target, where wide zones (up to 40m) of silicification, breccias and veining with strong gold and silver rock chip geochemistry is being mapped and sampled 3.8km south east of the current drilled area at San Pedro.
“Drilling continues at Los Ricos with 6 drill rigs as we accelerate the drilling required for our initial resource. At the Los Ricos North Project we continue with the groundwork preparing for an upcoming drill campaign, which we anticipate commencing after the Easter break,” said Brad Langille, President and CEO. “We continue to monitor the COVID-19 developments in Mexico and have implemented additional safety procedures at both Los Ricos and Parral as described in PR#11 dated March 18, 2020.”
At the new project, named Plata Verde, Radius geologists have re-discovered an undocumented large scale underground bulk mining operation where in the late 1800’s, historic miners hand excavated an extensive series of anastomosing caverns, producing silver bars at an associated smelter operation. The project appears to be un-explored since the miners ceased their operations, and no references have been found within the Mexican Geological Survey. The few local residents have no knowledge of exploration companies working in the area and there are no indications of prior exploration within the mines or surrounding outcrops. Initial prospecting rock chips by Radius geologists have returned silver grades between 5 and 1070 g/t Ag.
Orla Mining Ltd. is pleased to announce that the Company has entered into a non-binding letter agreement with Fresnillo Plc as to the commercial terms on which Orla would obtain the right to expand the Camino Rojo oxide pit onto part of Fresnillo’s mineral concession located immediately to the north of Orla’s property under a definitive layback agreement
“The discovery of strong copper mineralisation hosted by iron-rich breccia at Gregors is very promising, as there is a history of discovering and exploiting high-grade, copper-rich breccia pipes in the surrounding Cananea mining district, particularly at the nearby Cananea Copper Mine located 10km to the northwest. I’m looking forward to completing our interpretation of the results and recommencing drilling as soon as practicable.”
Doug Fulcher, President and CEO of OWL notes “the lithium exploration and development sector remains robust with the current spot price of lithium carbonate (LCE) remaining at $8,700 per tonne. The second phase of exploration drilling in the southern part of the project area is compelling given the potential of the targets.”
