The world’s richest man, Carlos Slim, held a press conference at one of his offices in Mexico City today. The conference was attended by about 90 reporters and guests who were served appetizers, paella and chocolate cake on the trademark blue chinaware from his Sanborn’s restaurant chain. Slim announced he will be investing another 10 billion pesos in his mining company, Frisco. “We are looking at other places in America, from here south,” announced Slim, stating his plans to acquire more mines and land. Frisco produced 199,791 oz Au and 5.5 million oz Ag at its Mexican operations in 2010 and is expecting higher production for 2011. Slim plans to increase his overall investment in Mexico by about 20 percent this year to a total of $3.6 billion dollars.
