TORONTO, March 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -Sierra Metals Inc. (TSX:SMT) (BVL:SMT) ("Sierra Metals" or the "Company") announces that Mark Brennan has tendered his resignation as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Brennan will continue in his current role for a period of 30 days to facilitate the implementation of an orderly succession plan. Further details in this regard will be announced in due course.

Mr. Brennan also resigned as director of the Company effective immediately.

Mr. Alberto Arias, Chairman, commented: "We thank Mark for his contribution to the Company over the past two years and wish him well in his new endeavors.  The Company will ensure that the necessary plans are put in place to effect a smooth transition."

In addition, and further to its press release dated March 22, 2017, the Company now expects to release its 2016 fourth quarter and year-end consolidated financial results on Thursday, March 30, 2017 before market open.
