Vancouver, B.C. – Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. (TSX.V:SCZ) ("Santacruz") regrets to report a fatal accident at its Rosario Mine in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on November 9th. The accident was an isolated incident that occurred on a development heading at Level 4 of the Rosario Mine.
"It is with extreme sadness that we announce this tragic accident. Our deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to this miner's family, friends and co-workers," said Arturo Prestamo, Santacruz Silver President and Chief Executive Officer. "We strive to have a safe workplace as we take health and safety of our employees with the highest priority. We are investigating with the authorities the cause of this accident and taking all possible measures to ensure this does not happen in the future."
The operations at the mine were temporarily suspended to alert authorities and allow them to investigate. Santacruz has a top priority on safety and will continue to seek improvements to make sure safety is always a priority at all of the operations.
