It was reported that Minera Autlan, a Mexican iron alloy, and manganese producer, has resumed operation at its manganese mine in the State of Hidalgo after a blockade for 51 days. Community residents have been banned from entering the company’s Naopa plant, one of the company’s main manganese mines.

Minera Autlan has been mining manganese in Molango and neighboring cities for many years. And, the community residents have been complaining about environmental pollution and severe damages to human health for years as well. It was understood that long-term exposure to this mineral as manganese would cause irreversible damage to the central nervous system.

The blockade was declared ended as local community residents, environmental supporters and Minera Autlan agreed to conduct an analysis at the end of the year to determine the damage caused by Minera Autlan’s operations in the area (if any).
