Grupo México will reopen its San Martín mine, located in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico, which was closed for 11 years due to a labor dispute with the National Trade Union of Mining Workers led by Napoleón Gómez Urrutia.
In a statement, the workers of the mine announced their change to the National Trade Union of Exploration, Exploitation and Mining Workers in the Mexican Republic, thereby ending the closure by strike.
With the reopening of the mine, 600 direct and 3 thousand indirect jobs will be generated.
This project has a useful life of 32 years, where they can obtain more than 44 million tons of minerals such as copper, according to information from Grupo México.
Grupo Mexico will allocate 77 million dollars for the reopening of the mine, which will generate an economic benefit for the community of Zacatecas and 33.5 million dollars per year for the state.
